What is Daylight Saving Time?
Daylight Saving Time (DST) is the practice of advancing clocks by one hour during warmer months so that evening daylight lasts longer. Clocks "spring forward" in spring and "fall back" in autumn. Not all countries observe DST - India, Japan, China, and most of Africa do not.
Why it matters for developers
DST transitions cause subtle bugs in scheduling, logging, and datetime comparisons. Always store timestamps in UTC and convert to local time only for display.
